Pierrette and Rudy HOLIERHOEK: We have been welcoming holidaymakers or workers to our old house for 12 years. This gîte is part of a complex of 3 buildings that were constructed in 1937. The first use of these premises was as a municipal abattoir. Closed in 1974, it was used for almost 25 years by the Hérisson town council for rental purposes. In 1999, we bought the place and brought it back to life. We began by renovating the former janitor's house, which we lived in for almost 10 years (the current gîte), then moved on to the stables (the current main house). Rudy, a gardener by profession, is passionate about plants. He plants, prunes, cuts and maintains the various gardens. Pierrette, a librarian, fits out the interiors, recovers furniture and brings the houses to life.
