1 Bedroom House in Brenzio

High above the glistening waters of Lake Como, in the picturesque mountain village of Brenzio, sits the former oratory of St. Giovanni, built in 1769. This charming little church welcomes visitors right at the entrance to the village and exudes a very special magic with its historic charm.
The quaint church door opens directly onto the path on the mountain side, while a few steps and a narrow path around the building lead to the wooden terrace with adjoining meadow, surrounded by shrubs and shady trees. From here, a dreamlike panorama opens up - Lake Como glistens in the sun, the surrounding mountains rise up majestically and unspoilt nature spreads out before your eyes.
Below the church there is separate access to a vaulted cellar, which is ideal for storing garden furniture, bicycles or sports equipment.
A place full of history, tranquillity and breathtaking views - perfect for anyone looking for something special.
On the mountain side, the entrance is through the rustic portal directly into the former oratory. The nave has been preserved in its original form, with a robust stone floor and ornate murals that immerse the room in a special atmosphere.
A platform made of wood and steel skilfully divides the interior into two floors and various living areas. A corridor leads from the entrance area to the rear section, where the sleeping area, kitchen and bathroom are located. A staircase leads up to the living gallery with two cosy single sofas, which can be converted into comfortable sofa beds if required, as well as the dining table and a TV.
The large stained glass windows, which are mainly located in the upper area, flood the room with natural light and create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The small, original holy water font still stands right at the entrance - a charming detail reminiscent of the oratory's past. There is also a pellet stove here, which provides cosy warmth on chilly days.
In the centre of the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen with two electric hobs. The bathroom is next to the sleeping area with a shower, WC, bidet and washbasin.
At the end of the hallway is the cosy bedroom with a large, nostalgic wooden bed that invites you to dream.
The mountain village of Brenzio towers high above Lake Como. The journey from the lake takes about 15 minutes. Steep hairpin bends and mountain roads lead to the top - you will be rewarded with a special kind of holiday home, tranquillity and a fantastic view.
The Brenzio Oratory was built in 1769 on the initiative of the parish priest Don Giandomenico Bassi and endowed by Giuseppe Rasella with an annual endowment for religious purposes and restoration work. It was a simple building with an altar, without a repository for the Blessed Sacrament, and was mainly used to celebrate the feast of St Joseph.
Religious services have not been held there since the 1960s, and in the early 2000s it was released for secular use by the Episcopal Curia of Como. In 2010, the architect Francesco Lazzari saved the oratory from decay and restored it in an original and loving way. The Ministry of Culture categorises the building as historically and culturally valuable, as it has hardly undergone any changes since its construction. The simple interior design with stucco work, pilasters, vaults and a local stone step gives the oratory a remarkable expressiveness.
In Gravedona on Lake Como, you will find flat, child-friendly beaches with sweeping views to the south.
There is a small lido with a kiosk and toilets at the mouth of the river.
The location on the mountain is ideal as a starting point for hiking and mountain biking.
There is a public car park opposite the church at the entrance to the village. There is a small private car park for small vehicles and two-wheelers next to the church.
