Roomy, garden-level home away from home on a quiet block in DC's historic Logan Circle neighborhood. The apartment has one bedroom and one comfy double sleeper (appropriate for children, but 1-2 adults have stayed comfortably in it as well.) We are walking distance to the Convention Center, White House, National Mall, metro, supermarkets, trendy 14th/U Streets, Shaw and Dupont, and beyond. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, including a microwave, dishwasher, French press coffee maker, coffee beans, teas, electric kettle, lots of storage space, a washer/dryer, and is fully furnished and equipped for most uses (work travel, pleasure travel, cook at home.) Free wifi, cable TV and smart TV are included. The apartment has a separate, private entrance, and the owners live upstairs.
Because the owners live upstairs, there will be light day-to-day noise (water running through pipes, footsteps) especially in the morning and evening. We also have a small puppy. He is mellow for his age, but the pitter-patter of his paws can sometimes be heard in the apartment. He is never physically in the apartment. We rise at about 6 am and retire at 11 pm. We are very aware of guests in the apartment and try to minimize any noise, but please keep these notes and hours in mind if you are sensitive to noise.
DC's historic Logan Circle neighborhood is known for its architecture, with Victorian gems juxtaposed against modern, sophisticated cafes and trendy boutiques. We believe we are on the best block in DC! It is leafy and quiet, only steps from historic Logan Circle park (where you can relax, picnic, or even join in a game of pickup bocce!) You are within a five to ten minute walk to a Whole Foods market, Giant supermarket, and Trader Joe's. We are steps from the U Street and 14th street corridors, and a short walk to Dupont to the west, along with the trendy Shaw neighborhood to the east, with all the restaurants, cafes and nightlife they all have to offer. It is a quick stroll to the Convention Center if you are here for an event. We also are well located to the National Mall and the White House (both about 20 minutes on foot) and a lovely springtime stroll beyond that to Washington, DC's spectacular cherry blossom trees or historic Georgetown!
The apartment does not have parking. We can provide you with a DC Guest Parking pass, which allows you to park on the street like a resident. This has worked well for our guests who have a car, but keep in mind you still have to be aware of any posted parking restrictions. We recommend walking, Metro, cabs, Uber, and bikeshare to get around. We are a 10 minute walk to two metro stations, and there are buses galore all around the neighborhood. We are within 2-3 blocks of 4 different Capital Bikeshare stations, where you can rent a bike to get around town! Zip Car stations are also located all around the neighborhood if you need a car to get around during your stay.
From Regan National Airport, Metro will get you quickly to our location. Take the yellow line to U Street, and then the apartment is a 10 minute walk away. Cabs or uber from National are also an option, and the ride to our location is $14 -$18, depending on traffic. If you're arriving into Dulles International Airport, currently, cab, uber or Super Shuttle are your only options. If you're flying into Baltimore Washington International Airport, you have the option of cab, uber or train/Metro. If you're arriving by train to DC's Union Station, it is a 15 minute cab ride, or red line Metro to Dupont, then a 6-block walk.
