Positive: The Artisan's house was very much what it says, with the owner and woodworker living and working downstairs. The gentle sound of the scrollsaw and smell of wood drifted upstairs to the patio outside our rooms. The house is traditional, up a spiral metal staircase, and the two bedrooms share a bathroom which allows a certain amount of privacy. Altogether so characterful and friendly... but do not expect modern, streamlined hotel rooms each with ensuite facilities. The kitchen facilities are small but very well thought-out and provide many more essentials than some modern flats with large showy kitchenettes.

Negative: Nothing; we all loved it! But the arrangments may not suit everyone, or even be practical for those who are large or require more self-contained bedrooms. The upstairs bedroom and lounge room are accessed via narrow wooden staircases. The one bathroom has doors to the downstairs bedroom and kitchen, with an ingenious door locking system to prevent access from either side when in use, but to reach it from the upstairs bedroom requires one to descend the "stairs" first into the kitchen.

Summary: Lovely, characterful old place, but check details to ensure the unconventional details suit you.
