This beautiful townhouse offers a unique experience in an authentic medieval residence.
It is located in the heart of the Old Marais, or 4th arrondisement, near Hôtel de Ville and Pompidou Center. The neighborhood is teeming with restaurants, shops, museums and is considered the liveliest quarter in town, yet our tiny medieval street is very quiet. Nearby the local market street, rue Rambuteau, has a big variety of bakeries, butchers, vegetable, fish, cheese, chocolate, wine and prepared-food purveyors, some of the best in Paris.
The house features several living areas, four bedrooms, four and a half baths, two kitchens and two kitchenettes. It is a free standing townhouse that can accommodate up to eight persons. It is decorated with antique, period and contemporary furnishings and fine art, complementing the fully restored medieval architecture. The designer is known for high-style, understated luxury and a sense of context and comfort. The house has been published in major magazines and in books. The suites are spread out over six levels organized around an impressive circular stairwell with its central-post made of a single tree, carved handrail and period terra-cotta treads.
MAîTRE SUITE: (a 2-level suite).
High ceilings, massive oak beams, limestone tiles and wide-plank flooring are hallmarks of the largest suite. The dramatic foyer with tall windows, unique armoire and large Flemish-style chandelier opens through double-doors to the bedroom with its three-meter-high tester bed and limestone hearth. A vaulted passage leads down five steps from the foyer to the Salon with its Renaissance wood-burning fireplace, deep velvet sofa and high-backed chairs. A second sofa, in Louis XIII-style, forms a cozy corner and fronts a dining table suitable for up to 8 people. This suite features a stunning master bathroom clad in oversized 'pierre de lune' stone and a fully-equipped stainless-steel kitchen. It is eminently suited for entertaining.
AVIARY SUITE: accommodating 1-2 persons:
This charming suite features red and white 'Toile de Jouey' wall covering and a large collection of shorebird lithographs by an 18th century naturalist. A marble 'faux fireplace' with facing Louis XV chairs make a charming sitting area for two. Wide plank flooring and ancient beams further enhance the traditional & thoroughly romantic atmosphere. In addition to the main room there is a kitchenette and a white marble bathroom with window.
DUPLEX SUITE: (A duplex suite) accomodating 1-4 persons:
A windowed entry with a limestone arched kitchenette gives out to a light flooded double height 'studio' living room. A stair and catwalk lead up to the mezzanine bedroom with its 'mansard' window and view over the lower level. The large living room is arranged with two deep daybed/sofas flanking a 'faux fireplace' and a round table with Louis XIII style dining chairs at the window. The soaring white walls, ancient beams and antique terracotta tile flooring give this suite rustic simplicity and drama. There is a stone-clad bathroom downstairs & half-bath upstairs.
GARÇONNIERE: accommodating 1-2 persons:
The top floor is a cozy & romantic retreat, with faux-wood ceiling and a mirrored alcove bed in a traditional 'campaign' style. There is mahogany furniture, a small dormer window-seat and cafe table as well as an upholstered Louis XIII-style armchair. A separate beamed, skylit entry and kitchenette lead to an all-limestone bathroom with an oversized stall shower.
All four suites have equipped kitchenettes, individiual wireless internet connections, flat-screen high-definition televisions with DVD players. All bathrooms are clad in stone or marble & have heated towel racks & beautiful 'Margot' fixtures, 'Miele' washer-dryers and combination safes. Maid service is provided twice weekly, unless additional service is requested (for an addtional fee). Every detail reflects superb taste and optimal comfort.
