Positive: My room was very clean and comfortable. It was also massive! (Free upgrade). Plenty of storage space for clothes and other items. Breakfast was very good. The staff were brilliant; very friendly and helpful. A special mention to the lovely girl serving breakfast who went out of her way to find info on somewhere that was open on Sunday morning (as I had a 3 hour wait for my train and the waiting room is closed at weekends). In warmer weather the location would be perfect as it is a peaceful countryside location, 5 minutes drive from town, or 25 minutes on foot. Taxis are cheap, but I recommend booking in advance. I was only there for one night but this would be a great location for a longer stay to explore the surrounding area if you have a car.
Negative: The only thing missing was a bath mat. This wasn’t a major problem as I didn’t use the shower. But the shower tray was quite shallow so I’d have been concerned about flooding the bathroom. My room was quite cold. There was a stand alone electric radiator which worked perfectly well, but the room was massive so took a long time to heat up. In a smaller room and/or warmer weather this would not be a problem.
