The Space:
As soon as you step inside Louisa Cottage, you will feel right at home. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard and provides plenty of space. Perfect for couples or families looking for a getaway, this large two bedroom terraced cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished throughout.
The large bay window floods the living room with light. Featuring a grey fabric two-seater sofa and large patterned footstool, you can put your feet up and enjoy the latest boxset on your favourite streaming apps.
Head to the dining room and you’ll find a comfortable dining area with seating for four. With woodland themed artwork and faux plants for décor, this space is friendly and welcoming.
The high spec kitchen has tasteful light grey cupboards and contrasting grey blue wall tiles. Fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster, you can enjoy home cooked meals during your self-catering stay. With the added luxury of a dishwasher, washing machine and coffee maker, you can really feel at home at Louisa Cottage.
The property has two bedrooms; a master double and a twin room. Each bed is dressed in luxury bedding and linens so you are guaranteed a restful night's sleep. With hanging rails and drawers for storage, both rooms are suitable for weekends away or longer stays.
The family bathroom suite has beautiful, marbled tiling. You can choose between the bath which has an overhead shower or the separate cubicle shower during your stay.
Outside is an enclosed private terrace with stylish dining furniture. Ideal for enjoying a sunny day, dining alfresco and making a relaxing end to a day of exploring your surroundings, this space is a real added bonus!
Louisa Cottage is well-placed for discovering Durham with easy access directly into the city where you will find an 11th century castle, Norman cathedral, a stunning botanic garden, the 13th century manor house, and picturesque gardens of Crook Hall. You can take a walk along the River Wear then explore the wide selection of shops, pubs, restaurants, cafés, tearooms and bars.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe box, details of which will be provided prior to your stay.
There is free parking at the end of the Terrace and a free car park across the road.
One well-behaved dog is welcome to stay at Louisa Cottage per reservation.
The Neighborhood:
Witton Gilbert is a small village, located just a few miles from the centre of Durham. There are a selection of amenities close by including a small supermarket, a post office, a farm shop, two popular pubs and a pharmacy.
There is a whole host of activities and things to see and do in the local area including Beamish Living Museum, Waldridge Fell SSSI Country Park, Ushaw Historic House and Gardens, Aldin Grange Lakes (which is great for fishing), Lanchester Valley Railway Path for walking and cycling, and Diggerland which is perfect for little ones! There are also lots of wonderful paths and walks around the village itself. The nearby Arnison Centre is also only a short drive away and contains major retail names such as M&S, NEXT and Sainsbury's.
