Positive: The apartment top level apartment has a great view overlooking the ocean and right by the beach. Great air conditioning unit. Although it wasn’t ready at first, Fernando was an excellent help and got the kitchen in working order for us and helped us with any and all issues that we had. He was an excellent host and made our stay enjoyable even though there were a few issues we had with the facility.
Negative: There were several issues with the place. Firstly, they didn’t have the website set up like they expected to and there was no payment required via booking.com, after which the owner or manager Jorge contacted us and was rather unkind and demanding that we put down a 50% deposit outside of booking, which for a 5 night stay was around $300 usd. Booking advises against doing so and instead of treating guests rudely, he coukd easily do research on how to change settings on his end so that guests automatically have to put down any percentage that he desires. The major issue however, is that the booking shows the apartment to be two bedrooms and is in fact one big on with AC, and three beds in the living room/kitchen area which is open air and is apparently the “second bedroom”. Maybe the price is fair comparative to other similar properties, but we went to the coast with my wife, her mother and sister during our first wedding anniversary and it was quite disappointing to have to share one single bedroom for five nights when it was advertised to have two. The door to the bathroom is a big heavy sliding door and which semi difficult and noisy to open. Especially in the middle of the night. It’s pretty but a normal light door that closes all the way would be much better. Theres also termite dust that falls down from a light over the dining table and could easily be replaced. There was a fair amount of gecko poop on the outside porch when we arrived, which we asked them to clean and were told that within a half hour it’d be full again. Eventually we just cleaned it ourselves and never had it didn’t come back after that. Pretty low pressure on all the faucets but not that big of a deal and maybe can’t be helped. Overall had a nice stay and Fernando was an awesome host. Just felt like something’s could have been much clearer and they need to reinvest some $ in the facilities.
