Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Likeable old hotel that was cautiously renovated. Nothing about it is "fancy", but it's affordable and invests in quality where it matters: The sauna is tiny, but in great condition, the relaxation room is comfy, with direct access to the garden. The rooms are perfectly suitable and the staff is agreeable. The breakfast is exceptional at this price level, ample choice for a small hotel, and fresh eggs made to order.

Negative: We got ample towels for the sauna, but one of them had an old bloodstain on it. Not terrible, I'm sure it was properly washed and not unhygienic, but these things should not happen in a hotel. The bigger issue is the location: It's a nice spot on a hill, but apart from breakfast they only offer small snacks and those only until 8pm (so technically it should be called a hotel garni if I'm not mistaken), meaning that after a relaxing time in the sauna (open 4-9pm so best used before dinner) you'll have to drive 15-20 minutes down to the next town to get an evening meal, and this being Bavaria, there are only a few places that serve dinner after 8pm, so the whole thing might be a bit of a rush.

Summary: Nice hotel with great sauna for the price level, but no comfortable dinner options
