The main activity to be aware of is that the workers have materials and vehicles near the same general area as the parking for the house. Everyone is very nice and cooperative. WINTER RESERVATIONSExperience the magic of winter with unbeatable lake views that few homes can match—but with great views comes great adventure! Accessing this home in the winter can be challenging, with stairs, snow, and sometimes narrow passages, so make sure you're ready for a true mountain experience. This house is a cozy haven during a storm, offering stunning views and peaceful nature. But if a big snow hits, you'll need a 4-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicle with snow tires to get in and out, and there may be times when you'll have to wait until roads are cleared.In the rare event of a power outage, you'll still have limited heat and a gas BBQ for meals, but lights, cooking appliances, and WiFi will be unavailable until service returns. TV may be out as well if the internet goes down—so pack for cozy, tech-free moments, just in case.The home is located off a well-plowed main highway (thanks to Caltrans!), but the access road only gets plowed after 6-8 inches of snow. If you're not comfortable driving in snow or don't have the right vehicle, this may not be the best fit. There's parking for one car (maybe two), but plow crews can't create wide spaces after heavy snow, so a bit of shoveling may be needed. Make sure your vehicle is clear of the access road, as blocking it—or the garbage box—could delay snow removal and incur a fine ($300).If you're concerned about weather-related disruptions, we recommend trip insurance, as refunds aren't provided. In extreme cases, like a full highway shutdown, we might offer a chance to reschedule your stay.SUMMER RESERVATIONSIn the summer, there is occasional brief access to the pier via the outside stairs by a buoy renter. They are always considerate and quiet. *No smoking of any kind is permitted anywhere on the premises*No campfires or charcoal grills*No events, parties, or large gatherings*No commercial photography or filming is permitted on the property. Tents or other structures may not be erected. - Renter is liable for any damage to the property and agrees to accept charges to the card on file should damage occur during occupancy.*No shoes on the carpet*This home sits below the road and requires guests to go down 25 stairs to access the home and another 15 stairs from the lower level of the home to the pier. *Home is 2 floors*The patio furniture and BBQ will be available late May-October weather dependent.*This home DOES NOT HAVE Air Conditioning however there are ceiling fans in each bedroom and living room.*If a paddle, life vest, beach chair, or key goes missing, there will be an extra charge of $60 USD per item.Guests will have access to the entire home including outdoor space and private pier. Lake Tahoe is prone to wildfires and winter storms. Please note we do not move, cancel or provide refunds or credits for poor air quality, COVID and winter storms since they are all beyond our control.Please remember that living in the mountains and staying in a private home means that there are some things we cannot control. For example, weather and harsh conditions have knocked out Wifi and the power before. While these instances are rare, we please ask that you are patient as these are things that we unfortunately cannot control. While we will try to accommodate all requests, we handle refunds for situations like this (power outages, appliances breaking, etc.) on a case-by-case basis. Reservation is confirmed at the time of booking. Refunds are not offered for cancellations made within our cancelation policy of the reservation, even dropping days. There are no refunds due, regardless of cancellation cause, including but not limited to cancellation as a result of poor snow conditions, severe weather events, poor air quality, road closures, traffic delays, early departures, illness, injury, any Covid-19 related travel decisions when there is not an active local stay at home order, or mechanical breakdown.Guests are responsible for county fines if the property is sited during your stay. A full list of county rules are listed at the home.If you think you might want to cancel because of smoky air conditions, COVID and winter storm conditions, or any other reason, we highly suggest you PURCHASE INSURANCE TRIP or BOOK CLOSER to your travel dates. There is parking for up to 3 average cars, or 2 medium SUV's, parked diagonally, plus one parallel car parked to the south of the garbage area. From there, you will follow several flights of stairs down to the front door. There is one buoy available for your use depending upon the water level. The cost is $15 per night to use the buoy, and an additional boat agreement must be electronically signed in order to have access. Boat registration and Insurance must be under the same name as the renter making the reservation for lodging.
