Positive: It's a beautifully quiet little sanctuary in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farms and wildlife. Yet it also makes a great base for exploring Herefordshire, and there's a Big Tesco only 10 minutes down the road. Jo and Paul were incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived. The barn itself is huge, comfortable, and well equipped, though we were lucky with the weather and spent most of our stay outdoors. The kids (5 and 7) — and the grown-ups, for that matter — had an absolute ball feeding the animals and raiding the various fruit trees in the massive garden. (If you feed windfall apples to Shrek, he'll be your best mate!) They loved playing in the woods, climbing in the tree house, and bouncing on the trampoline. There were some days when we didn’t even leave the grounds. We climbed trees, toasted marshmallows, and played endless games of hide and seek, all right on our doorstep. Occasionally, the adults were allowed to relax in the hot tub, watching the swallows and bats once the small splashy ones were in bed. Thanks again, Jo and Paul, for your outstanding hospitality and generosity.
