Positive: Cristina and Giuseppe were, by far, the best hosts we’ve had in our trips to Italy. They met us at the trulo when we arrived and left us fresh fruit, delicious homemade cookies and a beautiful towel arrangement on the bed. The trulo was clean, spacious and quiet, with a beautiful view of the olive trees from the master bedroom. The weather during most of our stay was cold and rainy, so we had to look for indoor activities. We asked Cristina for pasta workshops in the area, and she told us she and her mom would be happy to teach us how to make orecchiette and focaccia. Although it was their first time doing a workshop, everything was well timed and organized, and it felt like a truly authentic experience as all the ingredients they used were local; some (like the semola flour and olive oil) even came from their own farm (masseria). Cristina and her mom, Maria, were very sweet and patient with our two kids, and the cost of their workshop was way more affordable than any of the workshops catered for tourists in Bari or Lecce. Plus, we learned some Italian! Cristina also helped us make reservations, as most local restaurants only spoke Italian. She also gave us various recommendations for local restaurants, and all were delicious. Both, Cristina and Giuseppe, were very accommodating and quick to solve any small issues we had during our stay. We highly recommend their place.
