Welcome to beautiful Gabriola Island! This super funky cottage couldn't be any closer to the best beaches on the island. Just walk out your door and you have two white sandy beaches to choose from. Launch your kayak or paddle board right from the beach or toss a ball around next door at picturesque Gabriola Sands Provincial Park. An ideal place for a picnic and a swim. Enjoy ocean views from inside the cottage or on the front deck. Great for families and friends!
The entrance to this 2nd floor suite is located at the top of an outside set up of approx 10 stairs. Upon entering, you will find yourself in the spacious kitchen that has everything you need to cook a gourmet meal. The bright and chic living room boasts a view of the beach and ocean, two couches (1 double sofa bed, 1 futon bed) dining table, Samsung Smart TV. A sliding glass door takes you out on to the front porch where you will find seating around a fire table. The bbq is off to side near the kitchen.
The master bedroom also boasts a view of the ocean and the grassy lawn. A queen size bed, small desk with charging station and a large closet. The heat pump is in the bedroom and when the door is left open, can heat the entire cottage. Down the hall. you will find the bathroom with tub and shower, linen closet and 2nd bedroom with a queen size bed.Please note -during the summer months the provincial park and beaches next door can get quite busy and you may be able to hear traffic noise.

Summary: This cottage has potential, but needs attention to details to be a comfortable stay. We planned a three night stay & left after one night to find better accommodations. Jen, the property manager was very responsive, but the things she could have fixed would not have been enough to make stay better. The location is next to two beautiful beach/parks, but the cottage is on the main road, & despite the fencing & landscaping, you hear all the traffic which surprisingly goes on well past dark. It seems the parks are a popular spot to come park. The noise is one thing, but there is also the lights of the headlights that shine directly into the bedrooms that have no window coverings. This was not the peace and quiet we expected. Next, the beds & futon are super hard, so hard that we collected all available blankets and comforters to pad the mattress. We thought we preferred a firm mattress, but this was not a typical mattress. It was difficult to get comfortable to sleep or watch tv for us. Jen was responsive to these critiques & said she would recommend the owner consider window coverings & a mattress topper for at least one of the beds. Lastly, main things were clean, but details were not excellent. We entered & found a strong odor of fried food & spices. We opened windows, purchased & sprayed Fabreeze, and cleaned the stove vent which helped. We requested a refund for the two nights we did not stay, & were denied, but were given a small refund for a dinner out.
