Summary: I recently had the pleasure of staying at Velzyland Cottage on Kamehameha Highway, Haleiwa, for almost a month with my family. We were five in total—three adults, one teenager, and an eleven-year-old—and this charming 1940s summer cottage accommodated us beautifully without ever feeling cramped. The beds were comfortable, and the cottage was stocked with plenty of fresh, pure-white bedding, bath, and beach towels. It truly felt like a home away from home. The kitchen was thoughtfully prepared, complete with basic essentials like paper towels, salt, pepper, garlic, and olive oil, which lasted us through the first few days before we needed to visit the local market. The host, Heather, was incredibly considerate, providing brand-new dish soap, sponges, kitchen towels, and laundry detergent pods. The washer and dryer were a lifesaver, allowing us to pack light for our stay. What made our stay even more memorable was Heather and her husband’s kindness and hospitality. They not only helped us feel welcome, but they also offered invaluable advice about the area as we prepared to move our daughter to a local university. Heather went above and beyond, giving me time to share my feelings during this bittersweet transition, and I deeply appreciated her compassion.
