Positive: A lovely quiet room in a beautiful location, just a short stroll to the beach and to the bus stop (easy to reach Skiathos Town and the airport). The beaches are amongst the best in Greece - at least when they're empty, which they were when we visited (we had two days from Oct 9th). The beach bar on the main beach was about the only place open, but it was perfect.
Negative: This isn't directly relevant to the accommodation but the time of year that we travelled (9th - 11th October). While going right at the end of the season has some amazing benefits (still great weather and we had pretty much the whole beach - and all of the others in walking distance - to ourselves), none of the restaurants were open in Koukounaries, which meant a nightly bus trip to Skiathos Town (the only place on the island with anything open, as far as we could tell). There were a couple of shops open in Koukounaries but they were selling the last of their stock and there wasn't much in them. If you want to stroll to bars and restaurants, either stay in Skiathos Town and bus it out to Koukounaries or come a few weeks earlier in the season than we did.
Summary: A beautiful stay but the end of Sept might be the sweet spot for quiet beaches and open bars etc
