Positive: The owners of this guest house are hilarious! All of them are older, and my friend said she felt like she was at her grandparents. One speaks English and his stories kept us engaged and laughing. As for the house, don’t expect anything fancy, just a clean room/bedding to rest for the night. Our room opened two ways, one to the kitchen/social space and the other to the carport where our car was. Made it easy to bring in our luggage and repack.
Negative: Nothing about the guest house or owners were terrible, just that the walls are thin (which we knew knowing that we were staying in an old Japanese home!) but other guest were not mindful of this and were talking as early as 4:30… which means we didn’t get the best sleep we wanted. Again, this is situational, and you may not encounter this issue! And the only other thing you might be uncomfortable with is the location of the shower room, which is through part of a the private space of two of the owners. I was ok with it, but I could see it being awkward for certain guests.
