Positive: Location: exactly where we needed to be, walking distance from family, from shops, cafรฉs, supermarkets at Lynn Valley Village, and from Lynn Valley Canyon for hikes. In a calm street with parking space. We were welcomed with gifts and a lovely hand written card. The owner Winnie was responsive and helpful and eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The apartment is properly heated and the 2 bedrooms are large enough, with comfortable beds. The washing machine and dryer were absolutely needed, as we spent 2 weeks in the rain! The patio and sitting area, with garden view were appreciated.
Negative: : The apartment was cheaply furnished, our first impression was very depressing โ€“bare grey walls, in need of minimum decoration on the walls to make it feel more welcoming. The entrance is along a side alley through a wooden gate that needs serious maintenance. The wood became very slimy with the rain and the lower hinge came off because the wood was rotten, making it difficult to open and close. There was no space to hang wet waterproof clothing such as jackets: hooks at the back of the entrance door or on the kitchen wall would be very useful. Kitchenware needs: the corkscrew needs replacing, there were no scissors or tin opener. We used our own. We asked for more clothes hangers, food storage bowls and a bread basket, which were all promptly provided. Some pots and pans were dirty with encrusted food dirt, and the top of the fridge and top shelves in the kitchen cupboards were very dusty. The blue garbage container which was provided for printed-paper and packaging, as well as plastic and paper containers, paper, and glass, was too small and insufficient for our stay.
Summary: Served its purpose to be close to family, but needs a bit of tender care to make it more welcoming
